Migraine Australia Pre-Budget Submission 2026–27

Migraine Australia’s 2026–27 Pre-Budget Submission outlines scalable reforms to improve equitable access to migraine care, reduce avoidable disability, and strengthen workforce participation.

Pre-Budget Submission 2026–27: Improving equitable access to migraine care in Australia” over a plum background with a purple awareness ribbon

Migraine is a common neurological condition that can be profoundly disabling - yet it remains under-recognised, under-measured, and unevenly treated across Australia’s health system.

In our 2026–27 Pre-Budget Submission, Migraine Australia outlines practical, scalable reforms to improve equitable access to effective migraine care. We focus on long-term structural improvements that support health outcomes, reduce avoidable disability, and strengthen workforce participation - without advocating for specific products or programs.

Our submission prioritises:

  • Better national migraine data and surveillance to inform policy and investment
  • More equitable access pathways (including clearer escalation and navigation of evidence-based care)
  • A review of system design and access settings to improve efficiency and value
  • Building workforce and community capability to support earlier intervention and better outcomes
