MAM2026

June is Migraine Awareness Month

Migraine Disables. Support Enables.

This year, Migraine Australia is running the national campaign “Migraine Disables. Support Enables” to highlight the impact of migraine on the approximately 4.9 million Australians who live with this disabling neurological disorder.

Stigma can disable and silence people with migraine.  Support, empathy and understanding contributes to enabling productive lives.

Migraine Australia, the country’s only patient-led migraine advocacy group, is inviting everyone to get involved this June—whether you live with migraine or want to show community support - help us challenge the myth that migraine is “just a headache.”

  • Friday June 5 Burple Day - Wear burgundy and purple to support and raise awareness
  • Sunday June 21 Shades for Migraine Day - Pop on your sunnies, take a selfie and post it to your socials in support

2026 Burple Day

Friday 5 June 2026

Burple Day is back for its third year—and we’re turning the first Friday in June into a sea of burgundy and purple once again.

On Friday 5 June 2026, join Migraine Australia to kick off Migraine Awareness Month by wearing burgundy and purple (or going full Burple!) to show support for the millions of Australians living with migraine.

Burple Day, a uniquely Australian twist on international purple migraine awareness days, blends our migraine colour burgundy with purple to raise awareness, spark conversations, and challenge the myth that migraine is “just a headache.”

Meet The Burples

Our lovable Burple characters—Bennie, Bindi, Billie and Betty are back this year to help spread migraine facts and fight misinformation.

How to Get Involved

On Burple Day (Friday, June 5), Australians are encouraged to:

  • Wear burgundy and purple—or go full Burple!
  • Share a selfie or group photo online with the hashtag #BurpleDay
  • Start a conversation about what migraine really is
  • Download migraine resources and support materials from the Migraine Australia resources page.

With iconic landmarks lighting up in Burple and more people joining the movement each year, Burple Day is quickly becoming a meaningful and memorable part of Migraine Awareness Month. Let’s paint the country Burple and give migraine the attention it deserves.
